Tulip Festival
While driving or walking across the spring landscape of Polemi village, the view of tulips popping up in the green pastures around you is the most rewarding, breathtaking feeling one can get! Tulipa agenensis is considered an endangered species. Yet, it grows in abundance in this part of the island and only between the last week of March and first week of April, making it the best place and time for a Tulip Festival.
The Tulip Festival welcomes its guests with loukoumades (deep-fried dough balls dipped in syrup). After getting enough sugar into your body, you may stroll around the various stalls, taste wine from local wineries and tantalise your senses with a plethora of traditional delicacies and sweets. Take the chance to walk towards the tulip fields, explore, gaze and be enthralled by the dazzling colorful carpet created by the red tulips and the green vegetation. No matter how tempted you are, remember that picking tulips is strictly forbidden, as they are a protected species whose numbers are depleting fast.

The festival features an amazing assortment of activities, dancing and singing performances by schoolchildren, demonstrations by handcrafters and artisans and activities for children.
