Sustainable experiences in nature.
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Department of Forests have collaborated to restore the historical buildings of the forest station and the primary school in the old settlement of “Livadi”, in the Pafos Forest and have begun the restoration of wooden cabins in Stavros tis Psokas, which is the central Forest Station of Cyprus, in the heart of the Pafos National Forest Park.

The Old Settlement of Livadi
“Livadi” was one of the last Cypriot villages created in the forest and has a sentimental history since it was deserted on the decision of the British colonial government in 1953, and its inhabitants moved to “Neo Livadi” in the Morfou area. Unfortunately, they where not able to root in their new village because of the Turkish Invasion of 1974, and they have been displaced ever since.
Stavros tis Psokas Forest Rangers Village
Stavros tis Psokas was the most central Forest Station of Cyprus and it was built in 1884. The wood industry was booming and the Department of Forests was of high importance. Because of the difficulty in getting in and out of Stavros there was a resident population of Forest Rangers and their families up until the early 1990s, when the numbers started to diminish.
