Halloumi cheese is recognized worldwide as one of the most versatile cheeses. You can enjoy it cold, fried, grilled, in sandwiches, in salads or with fruit. The Halloumi Festival in Prastio Avdimou village is an excellent opportunity to discover all its irresistible flavor.
The Festival celebrates our national cheese which is listed as a product with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). Festival goers have a unique chance to indulge in the rich and creamy taste of our handcrafted halloumi cheese, learn how halloumi is produced and discover different types of halloumi textures, appearances, and tastes. There will also be an onsite demonstration of Trachanas making (a traditional thick soup based on a mixture of grain and fermented milk).
Sample and buy halloumi cheese and other local produces and handicrafts. Hop on the tractor train and enjoy a ride through the picturesque village streets and take in the local architecture and views of the surrounding nature.
