Fruit and Deli Meat Festival
In the heart of Pitsilia region lies the charming village of Dymes, famous not only for its fruit abundance but also for the delicious deli meat products. The traditional houses, the ascending roads and rough terrain, the small back-yards, the tiled and tin roofs, and the picturesque upper-floors compose the scenery of Dymes.
Every September Dymes invites both locals and visitors to a two-day festival that takes place at a gorgeous pine tree-covered place where you can admire the beauty of nature with its wonderful colors and scents. The festival is a great place to discover all sorts of freshly cut fruit, and purchase them from the producers: local apples, peaches, pears, nectarines, apricots, grapes and plums directly from tree to your table. Producers are there to share stories with you, tell you more about the local fruit varieties and answer your questions.
Apart from fruit, local producers also exhibit their smoked cold cuts. You may stack them up in your sandwiches, add them to your pasta or just eat them slice by slice. Whether you enjoy cold cuts for breakfast or with wine, you will definitely find the taste that makes your mouth water.
A photo exhibition will be displayed, as well as a demonstration of palouzes making (creamy dessert made with grape-juice mixed with flour). You can try palouzes either warm or cold, after enjoying the traditional dishes that will be served onsite: souvlaki, halloumi cheese, ofto Kleftiko, followed by apple pie, spoon sweets and loukoumades (deep-fried dough balls dipped in syrup).
The festival features Cyprus dances and songs performed by traditional groups and both evenings finish with live concerts.
