Honey Bee festivals
The Bee Festival in the quaint village of Ora and the Honey Bee & Beekeeping Festival in Odou remind us that bees are amazing little wonders of nature. They are responsible for more than 80% of lower pollination, which is essential for the food chain and for sustaining life on earth. The biggest part of our island’s honey production takes place in the so-called “melissochoria” villages. “Melissochoria” literally means Bee villages and these two villages are among them.
Take part in the festivals to learn everything about Cyprus honey, beekeeping, honey gathering and the Bee hotels. Local beekeepers offer interactive activities and tours. Take part in experiential workshops to produce cosmetics and beeswax ointments, roll your own bee wax candles, make bee-themed handicrafts, taste several varieties of honey and other honey based traditional delicacies.

Follow the Honey Bee route in the Heartland of Legends to learn more about the Bee villages and their sweet stories.
