Cultural Decentralization
Discover the richness of our cultural heritage by visiting one of the numerous events at our villages around the Heartland of Legends.
The Cultural Decentralization Program aims to promote quality cultural activities in rural communities. The program was launched in 2015 and was immediately embraced by the communities and the public. It has been enriched and expanded over the years, and today it covers a wide spectrum of activities such as arts, literature, contemporary dance, folk culture, music and theatre. The Program attempts to involve young people in the process of cultural creation.
Title: “At the beginning of the Songs”
A journey through the roots and evolution of Greek song, from Cypriot tradition to some of the most significant works of the modern Greek repertoire. Short narratives passages reveal the stories and messages behind the songs.

Title: Soteria Mpellou
The musical performance “Soteria Mpellou” is a tribute to the life and work of the iconic Greek folk singer. Through beloved songs by some of Greece’s most important composers, combined with narration, archival audiovisual material and photographs, the performance offers a glimpse into the musical, social and human side of Soteria Mpellou.

Title: “Let The music Begin” – A Tribute to Alekos Sakellarios
Marking 35 years since the passing of Alekos Sakellarios, this concert celebrates the beloved songs of classic Greek cinema, with a special tribute to the great writer, lyricist and director whose name became inextricably linked with some of the most popular films of his era. The programme features beloved songs by Manos Hadjidakis, Giorgos Zampetas, Stavros Xarchakos, Mikis Theodorakis and Mimis Plessas, accompanied by photographic projection from the films associated with the songs.

Title: Artistic Paths in Kedares – Experiential Ceramics and Mosaic Workshops
A unique art initiative transforms the village into a vibrant open-air art space, where tradition meets contemporary creativity. Through hands-on ceramics and mosaic workshops, local residents and visitors become co-creators of a collective work of art, drawing inspiration from motifs and decorative elements of local cultural heritage, such as embroidery, woodcarving and traditional artefacts. The designs are transformed into 120 artistic tiles, which will be installed at selected locations throughout the village, creating a unique art trail. This project encourages community participation, highlights the local identity, and leaves a lasting cultural legacy, offering residents and visitors a unique experience.
